Adopt, Foster, Sponsor, Donate.

Just a few months ago I started volunteering my photo abilities at Feline Friends Cat Sanctuary, a local cat shelter in Feeding Hills, MA.

Why? Because what they do is just plain incredible

With open arms, they generously take in abused, neglected, and sickly cats, and rehabilitate them for a better life.

For some, adoption is in the cards. For others, the Sanctuary becomes their permanent loving home, forever safe, where they can recover from the horrors of their past.

Despite what they've been through, most of the kitties here are unabashedly playful, loveable, and downright greedy for a cuddle.

Here's a few of the sweet furry faces found prowling and lounging around the sanctuary.

NEVER ENOUGH STUFF!
Kitties at the Sanctuary are always in need of food, litter, fresh blankets, toys, etc.
Every little bit helps.

No snow? No problem! Rail Jam Re-cap.

Pop Quiz: Summer is over, you've got skis or a board that you're itchin' to ride, but Mother Nature is being a...well, she's just not cooperating. What do you do?

Answer: You do what the folks at Colorado Ski Shop would do! Haul in your own snow (courtesy of Ski Sundown), set-up some rails, and go at it!

And what could be better than massive piles of fresh snow, multiple features to choose from, and no ski patrol to throw off your groove? Oh yeah, free give-aways at the end of the rail jam, just for showing up. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Check out the pics below, and don't forget to check out this video of the event as well.

For Autumn Lovers - The New England Fall Experience.

Being a die-hard summer girl, I don't always celebrate the change to the colder seasons. I wholeheartedly mourn the death of summer's warmth and sunshine. But unlike me, most people cannot wait for the arrival of Autumn, and all the fun and exciting things that come with it.

Like taking long strolls, hand in hand, in the cool, brisk air. Down winding trails through trees ablaze in shades of gold, yellow, red, orange and burgundy. With the soft, smokey-warm scent of wood fires and burning leaves flowing in the breeze...

Then there's apple picking and pumpkin picking, corn mazes, and hay rides.

Let's not forget the yummy part of fall - Pumpkin Pie, Apple Pie, Hot Cocoa...Personally, I cannot wait to try this recipe for Apple Cider Cups! Looks delicious!

There's also all the cute clothes and accessories, like these, and these. Hey girls, did you know there's more than one way to tie a scarf? Check it out here. No more boring knots for me!

So tell me, what's your favorite part of Autumn?

An Education

College.

That dreaded word that I ran from 10 years ago. I didn't want to go, I didn't think I needed to go. At the time, I had no clue what to go for. I didn't want to waste time and money, that I didn't have, trying to figure out what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

So, I got a job.

Well, I got a few jobs. Waitress, retail, waitress again, cashier, then finally a well paying desk job. I despised them all. The biggest thing I hated about them - that I was making money for someone else. No matter how hard I worked, the bonus went to the boss.

It was the departure from my last job that made me decide I want to be a Professional Photographer. So here I am, taking pre-classes to prepare for classes in the fall. I never saw this coming, and it's a good thing!

First class assignment: Part A: Take a portrait of someone in natural light. Part B: Take a portrait of someone with a flash. Concentrate on the chest and up.

Part A:
Here's my Natural Light portrait of my stepdaughter. I have not decided which one I will submit yet. Feel free to comment.

Part B:
Flash Portrait. Pics coming soon. Flash photography has me puzzled!
